Carson-Newman for Second Round
The University of
West Alabama football team continues its run in the NCAA
Division II Football Championship as UWA (8-4) travels to
Jefferson City, Tenn. for a second round contest against No. 2
seed and South Atlantic Conference Champion Carson-Newman on
Saturday, Nov. 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CST and
will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 104.9-FM and at
athletics.uwa.edu.

Alabama football team continue to make history as UWA (8-4)
advances to the second round of the NCAA Division II Football
Championships with a 24-22 win over Albany State on Saturday,
Nov. 14.

UWA Returns to NCAA Division II Championships; Faces Albany
State
The University of West Alabama football team
prepares for its first NCAA Division II Football Championship in
34 years as UWA (7-4) travels to Albany, Ga. to face Albany
State in the first round of the championships. Kickoff from
Albany Municipal Coliseum is scheduled for Noon CST. The game
will be broadcasted on FOX Sports, WSLY 104.9-FM and at
athletics.uwa.edu.

UWA Places
Eight on All-GSC Team; Ford Tabbed Defensive Freshman of the
Year
As postseason
action approaches on Saturday, Nov. 14, the University of West
Alabama football team received All-Gulf South Conference
recognition. The Tiger football team placed eight selections on
the 2009 All-Gulf South Conference Teams, tying the school
record that was set in 2002 and 2006. Shontral Ford garnered the
Defensive Freshman of the Year honor, becoming the first
Defensive Freshman of the Year honoree from UWA and the second
Freshman of the Year for the Tigers. Ford, a native of Jackson,
Miss., joins former UWA wide receiver Marty Hammond, who
received the accolade in 1993.
