MERIDIAN, Miss.

The
University of West Alabama wranglers returned to
action over the weekend, with the men’s team
placing third and the women’s team finishing
fourth at the Mississippi State University Rodeo
in Meridian, Miss.
The Tiger
men scored 535 points to take third. UAM won the
event with 645 points, followed by Missouri
Valley College (600) in second and Tennessee in
Martin (410) in fourth.
Josh Napp
had a good weekend for West Alabama as the
senior placed first in steer wrestling (11.3
points) and took second in team roping with
UAM’s Bart Brunson. Todd Bledsoe won the
bareback-riding event (154). Blake Cavataio took
sixth in calf roping (23.4), while Brandon
Reynolds did not place with bull riding.
The Tiger
women scored 220 points to finish fourth.
Winning the meet was Troy (410), followed by
Tennessee in Martin and Murray State (230).
Natasha
Parker won the breakaway-roping event (5.9),
while teammate Casey Chapman placed seventh
(8.5). Lauren Hedrick did not place in goat
tying.
“I am
especially proud of Napp, Bledsoe and Parker,”
UWA coach Jayson Schoenfeld said. “They had a
great performance this weekend. We are looking
to going to Monticello, Ark., on March 30.”
The Tiger
wranglers travel to Monticello, Ark., to
participate in the University of Arkansas in
Monticello Rodeo March 30-31. |
