LIVINGSTON, Ala.
—The
University of West Alabama cross country teams
get back into action on Saturday, Oct. 6,
competing in the prestigious Twilight Classic in
Memphis, Tenn.
The college
portion of the meet gets underway at 8:10 p.m.
with the women’s 5k. The men’s 8k event is
slated to begin at 8:50 p.m. CST. The Christian
Brothers University-hosted event will feature
over 700 collegiate participants. A total of 47
schools will be represented in the Bluff City on
Saturday, including defending 2006 Twilight
women’s champion Harding. The University of
South Alabama claimed the men’s title a year
ago.
In their last
outing, the UWA men finished second at the
Mississippi State Invitational on Sept. 22.
Freshman Austin Enriquez paced the Tiger charge
with a 15th-place finish in the
event. Jeremy Wilson also secured a top-20
finish at the MSU meet. On the women’s side,
Amanda Fuentes has been the Red and White’s top
finisher in the previous three events this
season.
The Twilight
Classic will serve as a tune up for UWA as it
prepares for the Gulf South Conference Cross
Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20 in
Hoover, Ala.
