UWA Volleyball Ranked 10th In South
Region |
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
– The
NCAA Division II Women’s
Volleyball Committee
released the initial
regional rankings for the
2009 season on Thursday. The
University of West Alabama
volleyball team is ranked
tenth in the South Region.
The
Tigers (21-5) enter this
weekend’s activity against
regional foes Henderson
State, Arkansas Tech and
Ouachita Baptist with a 13-5
record within the region,
the most wins by any of the
nine teams ahead of UWA.
West
Florida, the only other Gulf
South Conference team in the
rankings, is listed third
behind Sunshine State
Conference programs Saint
Leo and Tampa. Three teams
that the Tigers have gone
head-to-head with appear in
the rankings
–
Tampa, Florida Southern
(6th) and Nova Southeastern.
UWA swept FSC 3-0 on Sept.
11 in Pensacola, Fla. and
dropped matches to Tampa and
Nova Southeastern.
The next
rankings will be released on
Oct. 29.
