Volleyball Remains Unblemished With Win at Home

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama volleyball team continued its hot streak on Wednesday against Spring Hill College, blanking the Badgers 3-0 in front of the 723 at Pruitt Hall.  UWA has now strung together nine consecutive wins to open the season.

UWA opened the match by taking game one 30-22 and followed the feat with 30-23 and 30-24 wins in game two and game three respectively.  The Tigers were led by junior Allison Nail with 17 kills and 12 digs.  Nail has tallied a double-double in seven of the nine matches this season.  Ana Gabriela Pedrosa added eight kills on the night.  Taylor Borunda paced the squad in the dig department with 17.

“It was a great home opener for us,” said head coach Ron Arenz.  “The crowd was really great tonight.  We look forward to having crowds like this throughout the year.”

SHC (3-1), who came into the match undefeated on the campaign as well, was led by Kristen Phillips with 11 kills.  Rachel Williams recorded eight kills.

UWA has a quick turnaround as it travels to Atlanta, Ga. on Friday to take part in the Clark Atlanta Tournament.  The Tigers will square off with Alabama State and Clark Atlanta.  Match times are slated for 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. CST.
