LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The
University of West Alabama
volleyball team continued its
hot streak on Wednesday against
Spring Hill College, blanking
the Badgers 3-0 in front of the
723 at Pruitt Hall. UWA has now
strung together nine consecutive
wins to open the season.
UWA
opened the match by taking game
one 30-22 and followed the feat
with 30-23 and 30-24 wins in
game two and game three
respectively. The Tigers were
led by junior Allison Nail with
17 kills and 12 digs. Nail has
tallied a double-double in seven
of the nine matches this
season. Ana Gabriela Pedrosa
added eight kills on the night.
Taylor Borunda paced the squad
in the dig department with 17.
“It was a great home opener
for us,” said head coach Ron
Arenz. “The crowd was really
great tonight. We look forward
to having crowds like this
throughout the year.”
SHC (3-1), who came into the
match undefeated on the campaign
as well, was led by Kristen
Phillips with 11 kills. Rachel
Williams recorded eight kills.
UWA has a quick turnaround as
it travels to Atlanta, Ga. on
Friday to take part in the Clark
Atlanta Tournament. The Tigers
will square off with Alabama
State and Clark Atlanta. Match
times are slated for 1:30 p.m.
and 5:30 p.m. CST.
