LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The
University of West Alabama
volleyball team moved to 14-0 on
the season after sweeping
Southern Arkansas 3-0 (30-24,
30-26, 30-17) Saturday afternoon
at Pruitt Hall. UWA also
claimed Friday’s match over SAU
to complete the weekend sweep.
The Tigers had three players
in double figures in kills with
junior Allison Nail recording a
match-high 18 kills. Nail
finished with a .412 hitting
percentage. Sophomore Ana
Gabriella Pedrosa turned in 11
kills while Jessica Crook added
10 kills in the win. Jacquie
Swan led all individuals with 19
digs. Sophomore Giuliana De
Francesco tallied 40 assists
along with four block assists.
“It was great to see us come
with the same intensity that we
had last night (Friday),” said
head coach Ron Arenz. “We will
enjoy this one for a day or two
and then turn our attention to
North Alabama on Tuesday night.”
The Lady Muleriders (3-10)
had four players with five kills
each – Shelly Jones, Maggie
Ross, Sarah Bell and Christina
Correa.
The Tigers return to Gulf South
Conference Eastern Division play
on Tuesday, Sept. 18, as UWA
welcomes in-state rival North
Alabama to Pruitt Hall. The
match is slated to begin at 7
p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear
white to the match versus UNA to
“White Out The Lions”.
