LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The
University of West Alabama
volleyball team swept Southern
Arkansas 3-0 on Friday night in
the first of two matches this
weekend with the Lady Muleriders.
The win at Pruitt Hall in front
of 619 in attendance pushes
UWA’s record to 13-0 on the
season.
The Tigers made
quick-work of SAU 30-19, 30-23
and 30-16 in a match that lasted
just an hour and 20 minutes.
UWA put together a balanced
attack on offense led by junior
Allison Nail, who registered a
match-high 13 kills. Sophomores
Jessica Crook and Ana Gabriela
Pedrosa each finished with nine
kills. Senior Rafaella Maranhao
added eight kills and tallied
six service aces in the
contest. Senior Taylor Borunda
finished with a match-high 16
digs.
“We had really good balance
tonight,” said head coach Ron
Arenz. “We spread the wealth
tonight in kills which is a good
sign of great communication by
the team.”
SAU (3-9) was led by Kristina
Daily with 6 kills while
Christina Correa added five
kills in the loss.
The two Gulf South Conference
foes square off again on
Saturday, Sept. 15, at Pruitt
Hall on the UWA campus. First
serve is set for 1 p.m.
