LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The University of West Alabama
volleyball team will close out
the 2007 regular season with a
three-match road trip this
weekend. The Tigers will face
NAIA foe Spring Hill on Thursday
night before facing Gulf South
Conference rivals West Florida
and Valdosta State on the
weekend.
UWA will tangle with SHC at 7
p.m. in Mobile, Ala. while the
UWF match is set for Friday at 7
p.m. in Pensacola, Fla.
Saturday’s match with the Lady
Blazers of VSU is set for Noon
CST. UWA won earlier contests
with SHC and VSU while suffering
its first setback of the season
to the No. 25 Argonauts of UWF.
The Tigers, 25-4 overall and
7-3 in GSC play, are coming off
a disappointing setback last
week to West Georgia in the home
finale. The Red and White are
still battling for seeding
purposes for the 2007 GSC
Tournament that will be held in
Searcy, Ark. on Nov. 9-10. HU
clinched homecourt advantage
with its 3-0 sweep of Henderson
State on Tuesday night.
The Red and White continue to
lead the conference in hitting
percentage (.269) and service
aces (259). The club has
registered 1,458 kills on the
season (15.35 per game), which
ranks fourth-best in the GSC.
