LIVINGSTON, Ala. —
The University of West
Alabama volleyball team is
ranked eight in the second
release of the 2007 NCAA
Regional rankings, released by
the Division II Women’s
Volleyball Committee on
Wednesday.
West Florida is the
highest ranked Gulf South
Conference squad at No. 3
followed by North Alabama at No.
7. UWA’s next opponent, West
Georgia is ranked No. 9 in the
rankings. The rankings are one
component of eligibility for
postseason competition.
The Red and White claimed its
25th win of the
season this past Saturday with a
3-1 win over Huntingdon
College. The win total is the
most for the UWA program since
the 2002 campaign. The Tigers
have also punched their ticket
to the GSC Tournament with a
current 7-2 mark in the league
standings.
UWA closes out the home slate
on Friday, Oct. 26, hosting UWG
in a match slated for 7 p.m.
Following the match, the Tigers
will honor their two seniors –
Taylor Borunda and Rafaella
Maranhao.
