Tigers Take On North Alabama Tuesday Night; Fans Encouraged To Wear White

LIVE STATS

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The 14-0 University of West Alabama volleyball team returns to Gulf South Conference Eastern Division action against in-state foe North Alabama on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Pruitt Hall on the UWA campus.  First serve is set for 7 p.m.  Fans are encouraged to wear white to the match and help “White Out the Lions”.

The Tigers, who opened GSC Eastern Division competition with a road win at Montevallo last Tuesday and a weekend sweep of Southern Arkansas, are led by junior Allison Nail.  In the three matches last week, Nail recorded 51 kills (5.10 per game) over the three-match span.  The Cullman, Ala.-native registered 20 kills against UM.  It marked the second time this season she has tallied 20-plus kills in a match.  The Red and White had a balanced attack in the SAU duel on Saturday, posting three players in double figures in kills.

“The match is huge for both teams,” said head coach Ron Arenz.  “Both teams are playing well right now.  North Alabama is always a strong opponent and present many challenges for us.”

UNA enters the match with a 7-8 record on the season after winning two matches over the weekend in the UNA Regional Crossover in Florence, Ala.  The Lions topped Barry and Harding in the event.

Following Tuesday’s pivotal tilt with UNA, The Tigers continue conference action on Thursday, Sept. 20, traveling to Alabama-Huntsville.  UWA’s next home match is set for Oct. 5 as it welcomes West Florida to campus.
