UWA's Nail Named To Daktronics All-South Central Region Team

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — University of West Alabama’s Allison Nail has been named to the 2007 Division II Daktronics All-South Central Region Volleyball Team released on Wednesday.  The all-region award is the second post season achievement Nail has earned this year.  She was named to the First Team All-Gulf South Conference last week.

With her selection to the first team squad, the Cullman, Ala.-native is eligible to be apart of the nation-wide team that will be announced at a later date.  Nail turned in a stellar junior campaign, posting a team-best 452 kills in 33 matches this season.  She moved past the 1,000-career kill mark this season.  She ranks fifth in the GSC in hitting percentage (.308) and kills.  Nail reached double figures in kills in 26 matches this season, including eight double-double performances.

The Tigers wrapped up the 2007 season with a 27-6 record and a school-record .818 winning percentage.  UWA also earned a trip to the GSC Tournament – its first since 2002.  Head coach Ron Arenz’s club opened the slate with a school-best and nation-best 18 straight wins.
