LIVINGSTON, Ala. —The
University of West Alabama
Volleyball team will step out of
conference action this weekend
to participate in the Montevallo
Coca-Cola Classic on Friday and
Saturday.
The Tigers,
20-1 on the campaign will open
the two-day, four-match event
with Lynn University out of Boca
Raton, Fla. at 6 p.m. on Friday
in the Student Activity Center
on the UM campus. The Fighting
Knights enter the match ranked
ninth in the South Region
rankings that were released on
Wednesday of this week. UWA
comes into the match with a
program-first No. 7 ranking in
the South Central Region
listing. The Red and White will
close out the opening day with
an 8 p.m. tilt against Martin
Methodist. MMU, an NAIA
program, sports a 12-3 record on
the season.
UWA will face
Armstrong Atlantic and former
Gulf South Conference member
Lincoln Memorial at Noon and 2
p.m. respectively on Saturday.
The defending 2006 Peach Belt
Conference Champions enter the
weekend activity at 10-15. LMU
and the Tigers are facing each
other for the first time since
2005.
The Red and White return to GSC
action on the road at North
Alabama on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Match time between the Tigers
and Lions is set for 7 p.m. UWA
will host UAH next Thursday at 7
p.m. at Pruitt Hall.
