MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The
University of West Alabama
volleyball team claimed its 25th
win of the season on Saturday
with a 3-1 win over Huntingdon
College in Montgomery, Ala. The
win marks the most in a season
for the Tiger volleyball program
since the 2002 season.
UWA claimed game one 30-18, but
HC rebounded to even the match
at one game apiece with a 30-25
win over the Red and White. The
Tigers posted back-to-back wins
in games three and four – 30-16
and 30-25.
The Tigers (25-3, 7-2 GSC) had
three players post double
figures in kills, led by
sophomore Ana Gabriela Pedrosa’s
season-high 19 kills. Jessica
Crook registered 15 in the win
over the Division III Redhawks.
Teresa Clements finished the
four-game match with 11 kills.
Jazlyn Wright matched a
career-high in kills with
seven. Defensively, Jacquie
Swan carded her second 30-plus
digs match of the season. The
Mobile, Ala.-native tallied 31
digs in the contest. She also
scored five of the team’s nine
service aces in the win.
UWA returns to action on Friday,
Oct.26, hosting West Georgia at
Pruitt Hall at 7 p.m. The
Tigers will honor their two
seniors – Rafaella Marahao and
Taylor Borunda, following the
match.
