Tigers Down Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team claimed its 25th win of the season on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.  The win marks the most in a season for the Tiger volleyball program since the 2002 season.

UWA claimed game one 30-18, but HC rebounded to even the match at one game apiece with a 30-25 win over the Red and White.  The Tigers posted back-to-back wins in games three and four – 30-16 and 30-25.

The Tigers (25-3, 7-2 GSC) had three players post double figures in kills, led by sophomore Ana Gabriela Pedrosa’s season-high 19 kills.  Jessica Crook registered 15 in the win over the Division III Redhawks.  Teresa Clements finished the four-game match with 11 kills.  Jazlyn Wright matched a career-high in kills with seven.  Defensively, Jacquie Swan carded her second 30-plus digs match of the season.  The Mobile, Ala.-native tallied 31 digs in the contest.  She also scored five of the team’s nine service aces in the win.

UWA returns to action on Friday, Oct.26, hosting West Georgia at Pruitt Hall at 7 p.m.  The Tigers will honor their two seniors – Rafaella Marahao and Taylor Borunda, following the match.
