BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
University of West Alabama
sophomore outside hitter Allison
Nail was selected to the All-Gulf
South Conference East Division
Second Team Thursday, as voted on by
coaches.
Nail,
a 5-foot-10 sophomore, appeared in
108 games for the Tigers, finishing
with a team-high 402 kills (3.72 per
game). She had a .237 hitting
percentage, with 30 service aces and
16 assists.
The Cullman, Ala. native’s biggest
output came September 9, 2006 in a
four-game match against Christian
Brothers at the UAH-Country Inn and
Suites Invitational, where she broke
Amanda Heaton’s school record for
kills with 29. Heaton set the mark
the previous season with 28. She
also finished one kill shy of tying
Heaton’s record for kills in a
five-game match. Heaton holds the
mark with 28, set in 2005 against
Montevallo.
Joining Nail on the East Division
Second Team were Kim Beesley (UAH),
Lauren Tortorici (Montevallo),
Marcela Cunha (West Florida),
Juliana da Silva (West Georgia),
Ashley Hill and Megan Stout (North
Alabama) and Grace George (Valdosta
State).
Kamille King of West Georgia won
East Division Freshman of the year,
while North Alabama's Laura
Bellinger was named Player of the
Year. Stephanie Radecki of North
Alabama was selected East Division
Coach of the Year. |
