TAMPA, Fla. – The West
Alabama women’s tennis team dropped a hard
fought 5-4 decision to the University of
Tampa on the UT campus on Tuesday. UWA is in
the midst of four matches in a span of five
days this week in the state of Florida.
UWA’s Nicole Shanahan
ousted Tampa’s Estefania Greco, 6-2, 6-4 at
No. 1. The Tigers also gained a point with
Chenge Tsapayi’s 6-1, 6-0 win over UT’s
Lindsey Garyn on court three. The Red and
White turned in two wins in doubles
competition with the UWA tandem of Shanahan
and Brittany Williams topping UT’s pairing of Estefania Greco and Kourtney Stark, 8-5.
Mariana Freitas and Tsapayi turned back
Caitlin Scudder and Emily Kennedy, 9-7.
The UWA women will take a
break on Wednesday, March 26, before
returning to the court on Thursday against
Palm Beach Atlantic. The Tiger men will
square off with Florida Tech on Wednesday at
3 p.m. EST.
