TAMPA, Fla. – The West Alabama women’s tennis team dropped a hard fought 5-4 decision to the University of Tampa on the UT campus on Tuesday. UWA is in the midst of four matches in a span of five days this week in the state of Florida.

UWA’s Nicole Shanahan ousted Tampa’s Estefania Greco, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1. The Tigers also gained a point with Chenge Tsapayi’s 6-1, 6-0 win over UT’s Lindsey Garyn on court three. The Red and White turned in two wins in doubles competition with the UWA tandem of Shanahan and Brittany Williams topping UT’s pairing of Estefania Greco and Kourtney Stark, 8-5. Mariana Freitas and Tsapayi turned back Caitlin Scudder and Emily Kennedy, 9-7.

The UWA women will take a break on Wednesday, March 26, before returning to the court on Thursday against Palm Beach Atlantic. The Tiger men will square off with Florida Tech on Wednesday at 3 p.m. EST.
