Tigers Thump Morehouse, 7-2

ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of West Alabama tennis team, who has sewed up a Gulf South Conference Tournament berth, earned a 7-2 non-conference win over Morehouse College in Atlanta.

With the win, the Tigers moved to 12-9 on the season with two regular season matches left on the docket before heading to Montgomery, Ala. for the GSC Tournament later in April.  The win over MC registers a season sweep over the Maroon and White.

UWA claimed two of the doubles matches and topped MC in five of the six singles matches.  Carlin Tighe held off MC’s Tory Martin at court two, winning 7-5, 7-5.  Wes Yartnton and Brandon Harris picked up wins on their respective courts in straight sets.  Lucas Cruz made quick work of MC’s Kadir Carruthers, 6-0, 6-1 while Lucas Nunez topped Johan Oliver of MC, 6-2, 6-2.

The Red and White return to action on April 12, traveling to Clinton, Miss. to face Mississippi College.  UWA closes out the regular season with a tilt with North Alabama on April 14.
