CHICAGO, Ill. – Former West Alabama
football standout Kevin Guy will be inducted into the Arena Football League 2
Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 22, as part of the league’s championship weekend
festivities in Las Vegas, Nev.
Guy, a native of Columbiana, Ala., will
have the distinction of being in the af2 inaugural class and one of three
coaches inducted. He played at UWA from 1991-95. The former Tiger has served
as head coach of the Tennessee Valley Vipers from 2002-04 and guided the Rio
Grande Valley squad in 2005. Following his stint in the af2, Guy was an
assistant coach at San Jose in 2006 before being named head coach of the Arizona
Rattlers in 2008.
As the Vipers coach, he guided the
Huntsville, Ala.-based organization to a 40-12 record in his three seasons and
earned Coach of the Year status in 2003. The Vipers claimed three division
titles under the tutelage of Guy. His af2 coaching record ranks No. 1 all-time
with a 52-19 mark. Guy was the fastest coach in the league’s history to reach
the 50-win plateau. |
