SAU Rodeo Results
MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The University of West
Alabama Wranglers competed in the Southern
Arkansas rodeo this weekend with the women’s
team claiming third place with 205 points.
Lauren
Hedrick placed third in the long round in
goat tying and split in the average in the
event. Natasha Parker split in the short go
in the breakaway roping and claimed fourth
in the average. Sydney Bailey reached the
short go round for the second week in a row in the
goat tying event, but didn’t place.
“All the
ladies did well this weekend,” head coach
Chad Phipps said. “If each and everyone keeps
giving an effort like they did this weekend,
we will win the region.”
On the
men’s side, the wranglers had a bad run of
luck as Alex Caudle, Daniel Poole and Tyler
Earwood failed to place in their respected
events.
“Alex
didn’t have a clean run in the calf roping.
With a little luck, he would have finished second
in the long round of the event. Daniel and
Tyler both had some tough luck in the bull
riding,” Phipps said. “They all tried hard
and we had a better rodeo than we did last
weekend. That goes to show that we will keep
improving every week and we will be at the
top in the end.”
The
Wranglers return to action on October 11th,
as they will participate in the Troy Rodeo.
