MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The
University of West Alabama
wranglers competed in the
Southern Arkansas Rodeo this
past weekend. The UWA men
finished third out of nine
teams gathering 450 total
points. The Tiger wranglers
were 30 points away from
tying the University of
Tennessee at Martin for
second place.
Alex Caudle and Justin
Caylor each won their
respective events. Caudle
gathered 160 points in the
calf roping for the victory
as Caylor posted 140 points
to claim the saddle bronc
riding.
“I thought Alex and Justin
both had nice performances
this weekend, but there is
always room for improvement”
UWA head coach Chad Phipps
said. “As a team, we need to
step up and continue to
improve each week if we want
to win the Ozark Region.”
Cole Bilbro finished third
in the saddle bronc riding
with 80 points with Jerritt
Varner recording a third
place finish in steer
wrestling. Tray Chambliss
concluded the UWA scoring
with 70 points in the
bareback riding which placed
him in a split between
fourth and fifth place.
West Alabama returns to
action on Oct. 15-17 as the
wranglers take part in the
Troy Rodeo.
