HARRISON,
Ark. –
The University of West Alabama wranglers
competed in the North Arkansas College
rodeo, where the women placed second with
382.5 points with Natasha Parker and Cristi
Heisman qualifying for the College National
Finals Rodeo.
Natasha
Parker won the breakaway roping for the
Ozark Region again this year. Cristi Heisman
won third in the region in the goat tying.
“We had
two qualify for the CNFR,” head coach Chad
Phipps said. “The women made a strong run in
the last rodeo, but fell a few points shy of
the team qualifying for the CNFR. We had a
good year with a great learning experience
in and out of the arena.”
On the
men’s side, Alex made the short round in the
calf roping, as Daniel Poole won second in
the bull riding.
“Alex had
some tough luck. Only two bull riders made
the whistle, so they jackpotted the short
round and Daniel Poole won second,” said
Phipps. “I’m really proud of Daniel. He has
made a huge turn around this semester and
going to be hard to beat come next year. I’m
looking for huge things from him in the
future.”
The CNFR
is June 15-21 in Casper, Wyo. at the Casper
Events Center.
