CASPER,
Wyo. – University of West Alabama senior
Natasha Parker finished fifth in the nation
in the breakaway roping competition on
Saturday evening at the Collegiate National
Finals Rodeo at the Casper Events Center.
Parker, a
Bay Minette, Ala.-native, entered Saturday’s
final run atop the leaderboard in the
average, but closed with a 12.7 on her final
attempt.
“Natasha
went at it to win it,” said UWA rodeo coach
Chad Phipps. “She did what she had to do to
bring home the National Championship. She
has nothing to be ashamed of for her
efforts. She has handled herself like a
professional this week and I am proud of
her.”
UWA
wrangler teammate Cristi Heisman posted a
7.2 in the third round of the goat-tying
event on Friday at the CNFR to finish 15th
