MAGNOLIA, Ark. -
The University of West Alabama wranglers
were in action this past weekend in Magnolia,
Ark., at the Southern Arkansas University rodeo.
The West
Alabama men’s team placed eighth, as
Tennessee-Martin won the event, followed by
Southern Arkansas in second. The Tiger women
were fifth, as Troy took the meet.
Senior Tyler
Pearson won the steer-wrestling with 4.31
points, while senior Todd Bledsoe placed seventh
in bareback riding.
For the women,
junior Natasha Parker took the breakaway roping
event with 3.1 points. Sophomore Lauren Hendrick
took fifth in goat tying, while junior Sydney
Bailey was eighth.
“We had some
tough breaks this weekend,” Tigers coach Jayson
Schoenfeld said. “However we are looking forward
to competing at Troy University on October 13
and 14. Then we have our home rodeo on Oct.
19-21. We just haven’t drawn good stock at the
first two rodeos and few kids made some
mistakes.”
Both teams
will compete in Troy, Oct. 12-14 at the Troy
University Rodeo. |
