LIVINGSTON, Ala.
– The University of West Alabama men’s basketball team
returns to the hardwood on Thursday, Feb. 12, hosting
West Georgia in Gulf South Conference basketball
activity. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. at UWA’s Pruitt
Hall. The game will be streamed online on the B2
Network along with live stats at athletics.uwa.edu.
The Tigers (10-12,
2-5) look to rebound from a seven-point road setback on
Saturday against GSC East leader UAH. Prior to dropping
the 82-75 decision to the Chargers, UWA had claimed the
previous two contests, including a league win over
Montevallo. In their last five games dating back to the
Valdosta State game played in Meridian, Miss., the
Tigers have found the touch from beyond the three-point
stripe. As a team, the Red and White are connecting on
36 percent from behind the arc and are averaging 7.8
made treys per contest. Individually, junior Chris
Davis has drained 13-of-25 three-pointers in the past
five games. UWA has out-rebounded the opposition by a
+9.8 margin in the past five match ups.
With UWA’s 70-61
win in Carrollton, Ga. on Jan. 10, the Tigers will be
vying for its first season sweep of the Wolves since the
1992-93 campaign. In the nine point win over UWG, the
Tigers were led by junior Dominique Coleman, who
finished with 16 points. The Snellville, Ga.-product
drained four three-pointers in the affair. Junior
Brandon Hampton registered 12 points along with junior
Jason Swanson’s 11 points. Swanson extended his streak
of consecutive double digit scoring games to 14 straight
with 11 points. The Troy, Ala.-native was also credited
with his ninth double-double of the season against UAH.
The Red and Blue
Wolves enter the contest 4-18 overall and 1-7 within
conference play. UWG’s lone GSC win came against North
Alabama, 90-88 in overtime. The Wolves have dropped
back-to-back one-point decisions to West Florida and
Valdosta State.
The Tigers continue the GSC home
weekend on Saturday, Feb. 14, hosting UNA. Tip off is
set for 4 p.m. |
