UWA Reaches Century Mark With 106-71 Rout Of Southeastern Bible

LIVINGSTON, Ala. –  The University of West Alabama men’s basketball team reached the century mark with a 106-71 rout of Southeastern Bible College on Thursday night at Pruitt Hall to close out the non-conference schedule.

For the second-straight game, UWA (10-11) put together dominant efforts of both ends on the floor, shooting 57 percent from the floor and holding the Sabers of SEBC to just 41 percent from the field.  SEBC attempted 39 three-pointers in the contest, but connected on just 11.  The Tigers turned in their best rebounding performance of the season with 57 rebounds, while allowing just 33 boards for the Sabers.  The +33 rebounding edge was also a season-best.

The Tiger scoring surge began at the 8:28 mark of the opening half.  The Red and White extended a four-point, 26-22, lead out to 21 points at 46-25 with a 20-3 run with 3:47 left in the half.  UWA took its largest lead of the period at 23 points on a dunk by Lucas Hall.  Hall, a junior forward from Tuscaloosa, Ala., led the Tigers with 19 points.  UWA pushed its lead out to as many as 32 points at the 16:42 mark of the second half and held its largest lead of the contest on the final basket of the game with nine ticks left on the clock.

The entire Tiger bench registered points in the contest, with four posting double-digit efforts.  Red shirt freshman guard Daniel Scott pushed UWA over the 100-point plateau with a pair of free throws with 1:23 left in the affair.  The last time a UWA hoops team recorded 100-points or more was against Concordia College on Feb. 15, 2006.

Junior Jason Swanson extended his string of consecutive double-digit scoring games to 13 with a 17 point effort.  Swanson also posted his eighth double-double of the season and second in consecutive outings.  Senior Jamaine Nance turned in 11 points along with Herman Mains adding ten points in the win.  With the win, UWA head coach Eddie McCarter moved one game shy of the 200-career wins mark.

UWA returns to Gulf South Conference activity on Saturday, Feb. 7, traveling to Huntsville, Ala. to face UAH.  Tip off is set for 7 p.m. at Spragins Hall on the UAH campus.  The game will be carried by WZNZ 106.5 FM.
