Tigers Take On Concordia Wednesday Night

Live Stats

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After posting a 1-1 mark in the opening weekend of Gulf South Conference play, the University of West Alabama men’s basketball team will step away from conference action on Wednesday night, hosting Concordia College of Selma at Pruitt Hall.  Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.  The non-conference affair will be available on the B2 Network along with live stats at athletics.uwa.edu.

The Tigers look to get to the .500 mark overall on the season after pushing its record to 7-8 last Saturday with a 70-61 GSC road win at West Georgia.  UWA dropped the league opener to North Alabama last Thursday.  The Concordia match up begins a season-long three-game homestand for the Red and White.  UWA jumps back into conference activity on Saturday, Jan. 17, welcoming the Chargers of UAH to Livingston.  The UWA-UAH tip off has been moved back to 5 p.m.  The Tigers close out the homestand on Thursday against Valdosta State on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Junior forward Jason Swanson paces the offensive charge for the Tigers with a 14.3 scoring mark per game.  The Troy, Ala.-native led all Tigers in scoring last week with back-to-back double digit scoring outputs.  Swanson registered his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds at UNA on Thursday.  Against UWG, he turned in 11 points.  Swanson continues to lead the squad in rebounding, pulling down 7.1 boards per game.  As a team, UWA continues to claim the rebounding edge over its opponents with a +7.1 rebounding margin.  Junior Dominique Coleman posted a season-high 16 points against UWG.  He drained four three-pointers in the opening half of the nine-point win.

With the win at UWG, Tiger head coach Eddie McCarter inched closer to the 200 career wins plateau.  The win Saturday was McCarter’s 196th in his 15-plus seasons as a head coach on the collegiate level.

The mid-week tilt with the Hornets of Concordia will be the seventh all time between the two schools on the hardwood.  UWA leads the series 5-1, including a 62-57 win last season at Pruitt Hall.
