UWA Men Return To Pruitt Hall Against Clark Atlanta

Live Stats

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Playing on the home floor for the first time since Nov. 24, the University of West Alabama men’s basketball team returns to Pruitt Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 17, to host Clark Atlanta University.  Tip off is set for 7 p.m. on the UWA campus.

UWA (4-5) will look to get to the .500 mark after claiming wins over Saint Leo and Miles in its last two outings on the hardwood.  The Panthers of CAU enter the contest with a 3-2 mark on the season after topping Carver Bible College 98-83 on Dec. 6.  The Tigers own a 5-0 overall mark against CAU, including a 66-61 win at CAU last season.

A trio of Tigers currently average double figures in scoring, led by junior forward Jason Swanson’s team-best 13.6 scoring mark.  Junior Jonathan Griffin compliments Swanson in the paint with a 12.2 points per game average.  The Marrero, La.-native bolstered his scoring clip with a 28-point performance against Miles last Saturday.  Griffin posted 22 of his game-high 28 points in the second half to pace the Tigers to a 13-point, 82-69, win on the road.  Senior Jamaine Nance enters the final home contest of 2008 with an 11.7 scoring average.  As a team, UWA continues to control the rebounds against its foes, out-rebounding the opposition in seven of the nine games this season.

UWA and CAU mirror each other in a pair of statistical categories entering the mid-week affair.  Through nine games, UWA tallies 65.2 points on scoreboard while CAU averages 66.0 points per contest.  The Red and White hold a +4.3 rebounding margin over its opponents while the Panthers pull down a +4.4 rebounds per game.

Following the CAU contest, the Tigers will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday, Dec. 20 to face Southeastern Bible College.  Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Samford University’s Seibert Hall.
