LIVINGSTON, Ala. —The University
of West Alabama Tigers scored a
season-high 94 points en route an 94-68
win over Wesley College on Monday night
at Pruitt Hall on the UWA campus.
UWA (7-13, 1-5) led for 38 minutes of
the contest, stretching its first lead
of the contest at the 17:52 mark of the
opening period to double figures at
21-11 with 12:24 left in the first 20
minutes and led by as many as 12 in the
first half. The Warriors made a run to
close out the half, going on an 8-0 run
to shave the lead down to four. WC
(11-15) closed the lead down to as many
as three on multiple occasions before
UWA took a seven-point edge at 41-34
into the halftime break.
The Tigers cruised in the second half,
extending the lead back out to double
figures two minutes deep into the final
half, eventually extending the lead out
to 20 points at the 14:35 mark of the
half. That advantage was pushed out to
its largest deficit of 30 points at
89-59 with just three minutes left in
the contest. The Red and White
connected on 22-of-34 (64 percent) in
the final half.
Five Tigers turned in double figure
point totals, led by junior Glenn
Miles’s double-double. Miles registered
16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Birmingham, Ala.-native also was
credited with four assists in the
contest. Junior Kevin Johnson also
registered 16 points and was just two
boards shy of a double-double. Brian
Murphy pitched in 16 points, nine from
behind the arc. Senior Michael Billings
came off the bench for 14 points.
Maurice Naylor added 10 points.
UWA will look to extend its two-game win
streak to three when it closes out the
non-conference docket on Wednesday, Feb.
6, hosting Concordia. Tip Off is set
for 6 p.m.
