LIVINGSTON, Ala. —The University
of West Alabama men’s basketball team
will open the 2008 Gulf South Conference
campaign this weekend, hosting the
University of Alabama in Huntsville on
Saturday, Jan. 12, at Pruitt Hall. Tip
off is set for 4 p.m.
The Tigers (5-8) enter conference
activity after having dropped their last
game in overtime to Delta State last
weekend. The Chargers (6-8) travel to
Livingston after dropping an 88-72
decision to Carson-Newman on Wednesday
night. Junior Glenn Miles leads the Red
and White in scoring in just four games
of competition, sporting an 11.5 scoring
clip. Miles registered a game-high 23
points in the DSU affair and 12 in the
UAM contest. Tyler Dunaway leads the
offensive charge for UAH, averaging 12.3
points per game.
UWA looks to snap a two-game losing
streak in conference season openers
after falling to UAH in the previous two
league start-up games. The last time
the Tigers claimed a victory over the
in-state foe was a 79-74 contest during
the 2005-06 campaign. UAH won a pair of
games against UWA last season.
The Tigers welcome the Wolves of West
Georgia to Pruitt Hall on Monday, Jan.
14, at 7:30 p.m. to close out the
conference opening weekend.
