PITTSBURG, Kan. –
University of West Alabama placekicker Mitch Warfield
was named to Don Hansen’s Football Gazette 2007 NCAA
Division II Pre-Season All-America Team.
Warfield, a 2006
American Football Coaches Association All-American, was
one of 20 players from the Gulf South Conference
honored. This is the second accolade for the Bay Minette,
Ala. native by the publication, as he was named to the
All-Southeast Region Team last season.
The junior, who was named to the All-GSC First Team,
finished tops in the league in PAT percentage
(37-for-37) and made 10 of 14 field goals.
West Alabama opens the
season on Thursday, August 30th, as the
Tigers travel to Samford. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00
