LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The University of West
Alabama football team got back on the winning side
Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers snapped a two-game
losing streak by downing Webber International, 49-20,
for Homecoming 2006 at Tiger Stadium.
James Reiter and Chris Coach
connected for three of UWA’s seven touchdowns on the
night, as Tyrone Tomlin added two touchdown runs to help
the Tigers snap an eight-game, UWA (4-2) homecoming
losing skid that dated back to 1998.
Tomlin, who recorded 141
yards on the night, scored on UWA’s second offensive
play of the game, when he rushed for pay dirt from 69
yards out. UWA added its second touchdown when Reiter
found Coach for a 21-yard touchdown pass.
Coach would have 119 yards
receiving for the game, as Reiter finished with 166
yards thru the air.
Webber International (3-3)
would get on the board on their next offensive
possession, as the Warriors converted a fourth-and-eight
play on a 34-yard, TD pass from B.J. Hall to Joshua
Smith.
Jerin Wright pushed across
UWA’s first of three touchdowns in the second quarter on
a 6-yard run.
Reiter connected with Coach
for their second touchdown of night from 25-yards out,
as the duo connected for three touchdown passes on the
night.
The Tigers’ final TD of the
first half came on a 1-yard run from A.J. Holloway,
putting UWA up 35-7 at the half.
WIU’s Hall got his second
touchdown completion of the night on a 6-yard pass to
Eric Snyder, as Justin Mitchell closed out the scoring
with a 4-yard run.
UWA finished with 463 yards
of total offense, as the Tigers defense, led by Tim
Kelley’s nine tackles, held WIU to 201 yards.
West Alabama returns to
action Thursday, October 12, when the University of West
Georgia Wolves come to Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is slated
for 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the gate with
reserved seats at $10.00 and general admission $8.00.
