LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The University of West Alabama football team returns to
Gulf South Conference action this weekend, as the Tigers
(1-4, 0-3 GSC) travel to Carrollton, Ga. for the 25th
consecutive meeting with West Georgia. Kickoff is
scheduled for 6:00 p.m. central at Grisham Stadium.
West Georgia holds the
all-time series lead at 16-8 entering this Saturday
night contest. A series that began in 1983 saw UWA claim
six of the first 10 meetings, including UWA’s first and
only win in Carrollton in 1991. West Alabama downed the
Wolves last season in Livingston 24-14, marking the
Tigers’ fifth victory of the season and snapped a
two-game losing streak in the conference and a
three-game losing skid to the Wolves in the series.
UWA enters the
conference clash coming off a mid-season open date,
after falling 36-35 to Harding at Tiger Stadium.
The Wolves are also entering the game after dropping a
49-31 game against Harding last Thursday on the GSC Game
of the Week.
The Tigers rank third in
the conference in rushing offense with 210.2 yards per
game, led by Cole Mason who is ranked first in the
conference in scoring (8.4) and third in the conference
in rushing yards per game (98.6) and rushing yards
(493). UWG quarterback Keats Baldwin leads the fourth
ranked passing offense in the GSC with 181.6 per game.

Georgia kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. The game will be
