Tigers Host #5 North Alabama in Season Finale

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The University of West Alabama football team will close out the season on Saturday, Nov. 8, as the Tigers (4-6, 2-5 GSC) host #5 North Alabama. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on WZNJ 106.5-FM and streamed over the internet on the B2 Network.

UWA, which dropped a 45-43 triple overtime contest at Ouachita Baptist, last week, looks to close out the season with a “W” on Senior Night 2008. The Tiger Seniors, which will play their final game at Tiger Stadium, will be honored prior to kickoff.

Saturday’s contest is the 61st meeting in series between West Alabama and North Alabama, which is the longest in UWA history. UNA leads the series 45-14-1 with a 17-9-1 record in Livingston. UWA won the first two meetings in the series with a 14-13 win in 1949 (Florence) and a 19-0 win in 1950 (Livingston). The series has seen the two in-state institutions play each season since the first meeting. The last UWA victory in the series came in 2004, as the Tigers defeated UNA 28-27 in Livingston.

North Alabama (9-1, 6-1 GSC) enters the game on a two-game, win streak, including wins over Valdosta State and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The Lions are 4-1 this season away from Braly Municipal Stadium.

UWA will pit its GSC third ranked total defense against the conference’s third ranked total offense in the Lions. The Tigers are led by Garry Pack, who leads the GSC in tackles with 109, which is 10th nationally. UNA is led by A. J. Milwee, who is fourth in the nation in pass efficiency and 16th in total offense.
