LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University
of West Alabama football team held its spring
scrimmage on Saturday, March 1, as the Red Defensive
team defeated the White Offensive team 50-33 at
Tiger Stadium.
“I thought our defense
ran around well and hit people. They showed a lot of
enthusiasm,” UWA Head Coach Bobby Wallace said.
“With us still learning a new offensive system, we
still have a lot of work to do and that’s to be
expected.
Approximately 100
student-athletes have taken part in spring drills.
“We’ve had several
injuries and those didn’t play today. I would say of
those injuries, 90-percent of those are on the
offensive side,” said Wallace. “Overall, we’ve had
only 10 days of practice and I’ve liked our
attitude. We just need to get better in the days to
come. That will be very important to our success.”
West Alabama opens the
2008 schedule at home against Belhaven College on
Saturday, August 30th.
