BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The
University of West Alabama’s Garry Pack was named Gulf
South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his
efforts in the 26-24 setback at Arkansas Tech.
Pack, who collected his first
career laurel, recorded 12 total tackles led by 10 solo
stops and two tackles for a loss of three yards. The
senior from Hattiesburg, Miss. also forced one fumble
and blocked a Wonder Boy extra point and field goal
attempt.
Pack becomes the first Tiger to
receive a GSC weekly honor this season and is the first
UWA defensive player since Terrance Campbell on Sept. 8,
2007.
Pack is tied for the conference
lead in tackles with 36. He has posted 26 solo stops and
10 assisted tackles, along with ranking sixth in the GSC
in tackles for a loss with four.
West Alabama returns to action on
Thursday, Sept. 18, as the Tigers host Southern Arkansas
in the GSC-TV Game of the Week. Kickoff is scheduled for
7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on CSS and aired
on 106.5-FM and at athletics.uwa.edu. |
