LIBERTY, Mo. -- The
University of West Alabama’s Jeremy May garnered
his second Defensive Player of the Week award,
for his efforts in the 27-14 setback at the
University of Arkansas at Monticello, as he was
named D2Football.Com Defensive Player of the
Week. Earlier in the week, May was named Gulf
South Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
May led the Tigers in
tackles with 16 total tackles, including 11 solo
stops. The junior defensive end was also active
in the Boll Weevil backfield, posting 3.5
tackles for a loss of 16 yards, including two
sacks for 15 yards. The Birmingham, Ala.-native
also forced one fumble, recovered one fumble and
blocked a UAM extra-point attempt.
On the
season, May leads UWA in sacks with 6.5, is
second in tackles for loss with 12.5 and third
on the team in tackles with 49 this season.
West Alabama returns to
action on Saturday, Oct. 25, as the Tigers host
West Georgia for Homecoming 2008. Kickoff is
scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
