Former University of West Alabama football standout,
Lawrence Samuels, has been named Ironman of the
Week in the Arena Football League for
his
performance in Tampa Bay Storms victory against the
Arizona Rattlers.
The 14-year AFL veteran scored two touchdowns and
intercepted one pass to help the Storm to a 59-50
win over the Rattlers on Friday. The wide
receiver/linebacker also made four tackles including
one for a loss while starting as the jack linebacker
on the way to earning Ironman of the Game honors.

of the second quarter led
to Tampa Bay
outscoring the
Rattlers 28-20 in the quarter and gave the Storm at
38-34 lead at the half. Samuels also converted
three consecutive first downs on the Storm’s final
drive to maintain possession and run out the clock.
Samuels is currently third on the team in receiving
yards with 812, as his 10 touchdowns are fourth best
for the Storm. He has also recorded 24.5 tackles on
the season, which is fifth best on the team with his
three interceptions being second for the Storm.
Tampa Bay returns to action on Saturday, June 9 at
7:30 p.m. EST to host the Philadelphia Soul at the
St. Pete Times Forum.
