LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The
University of West Alabama football team held
its first practice of the 2008 season on
Thursday afternoon. Approximately 120 players
showed to begin preparation for the season
opener against Belhaven College.
The practice was
held up by lightning in the area, delaying the
practice to later in the afternoon.
“We had to cut
some periods short with the lightning during the
afternoon,” UWA Head Coach Bobby Wallace said.
“I thought the guys were very attentive today
with it being the first day. Some are feeling
their ways through today and some are ahead of
the game.
“We’ve got some
guys in good shape and they are grasping the
concepts today,” Wallace continued. “With this
many bodies out here there is a lot of
competition taking place and that’s good.”
The Tigers return
to the practice field tomorrow afternoon for its
second of preparation.
West Alabama’s
season opener is Saturday, August 30. Kickoff is
set for 7:00 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
