The 49 points tallied in the contest was the most since in an opening game since a 65-0 win over Concordia to kick off the Wallace era in 2006.

The Tigers struck quickly in the opening period, scoring on two of their first three possessions. Junior College transfer Deon Williams connected twice with freshman Gerald Worsham on back-to-back drives with scoring plays from 17 and 28 yards. The Green and Gold Blazers put their lone touchdown of the opening half on quarterback Andrew Carcich's one-yard plunge. The Red and White added three touchdowns in the second stanza, two from William's to Terry Allen on plays from 48 and 36 yards. Senior Cole Mason added a touchdown in the half, scoring from one-yard out.

Williams, from Birmingham, Ala. via East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss., finished his first intercollegiate game 15-of-22, 270 yards and four touchdowns in his debut, including a 37-yard rush for a touchdown. As a team, UWA combined for 517 yards total offense, collecting 300 yards passing and registering 217 on the ground. Allen, a sophomore from Huntsville, Ala. led all Tigers with 104 yards receiving on just four receptions. The ground attack was led by junior college transfer Dameon Baylor, who turned in a 108 yard performance on 11 carries. The East Mississippi Community College-product scampered 21 yards to post UWA's final points of the night with 12:30 left to play in the third quarter.

BC added a late third quarter touchdown from Ricardo Bolton to close out the scoring in the contest.

UWA ventures to the state of Arkansas for the next two games. The Tigers will square off with Harding in a non-conference tilt on Saturday, Sept. 6. Kick off is set for 6 p.m. on the HU campus.
