UWA Football Prepares for GSC Game of the Week at ATU

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama football team returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 11, as the Tigers (1-1) return to the State of Arkansas for their second game in six days, facing Arkansas Tech. The game is the first Gulf South Conference Game of the Week of the 2008 season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and will be televised on CSS.

The contest against Tech (1-1) is the 15th meeting in the series with the Wonder Boys holding a 10-4 advantage. This marks the sixth meeting in Russellville, Ark. where the Tigers are 1-5 in the series.

West Alabama looks to snap a seven game, road losing streak that dates back to Oct. 28, 2006 37-14 win at Arkansas Monticello. The Red and White dropped a 37-27 decision at Harding on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Arkansas Tech enters the contest also looking to return to the win column. The Wonder Boys had a seven game, non-conference win streak snapped in a 49-13 loss at Central Missouri.

Thursday’s televised game is the first conference affair for either team. The game will be aired on WZNJ 106.5-FM and also at athletics.uwa.edu.
