SEARCY, Ark. – The
University of West Alabama’s Terry Allen was named to
the 2007 Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team on
Wednesday afternoon. Allen was among 15 players named to
the first team offense and one of 58 players to receive
regional recognition this season.
Allen, a Huntsville, Ala.-native,
received the honor as an all-purpose player, as he led
the Gulf South Conference in kickoff return yards with a
school and conference record of 1,061 yards, including
returning two for touchdowns. Allen’s school and
conference record tying 100-yard return against Harding
on September 29th, catapulted him to setting
the school and conference record in return yards in a
game with 216 yards.
The freshman finished second in
all-purpose yards in the conference, behind Willie
Hopson of Ouachita Baptist, with 1,614. Allen was second
on the team in receiving (151 yards) and rushing (402
yards) and third in passing (111 yards), while finishing
second in scoring with 42 points.
The All-GSC Second Team selection
is the first Tiger since Gerald Gales and Ben Thoma in
2002 to receive the honor. Gales, a Birmingham,
Ala.-native, and Thoma, a native of Pensacola, Fla.,
were each named to the first team. |
