BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama’s
Jon Weinreich and Garry Pack were named to
the All-Gulf South Conference First Team in
football, as announced by the conference on
Thursday.
A total of 67
student-athletes were named to the First
Team and Second Team.
Pack, a Hattiesburg,
Miss.-native, leads the GSC in tackles with
114, which is tied for 16th in
the country. The senior linebacker finished
the season in the top five in six defensive
categories for UWA. Pack is also one of 24
finalists for the 2008 Harlon Hill Trophy.
Weinreich,
a Pismo Beach, Calif.-product, played in 10
games in his first season with the Tigers,
receiving an overall grade of 89-percent,
while helping UWA rush for 1,780 yards on
the year. The junior offensive lineman, who
saw time at guard and tackle this season,
allowed one sack this season.
Scott Buisson of the
University of Arkansas at Monticello was
named GSC Offensive Player of the Year,
while Lardester Hicks-Green of Delta State
was Defensive Player of the Year. DSU’s Ron
Roberts was named GSC Coach of the Year.
West Alabama finished
the season with a 4-7 record overall.
