LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The University of West Alabama football team took to the
field for its first practice of the 2007 season with
approximately 120 players taking part on the Tiger’s
practice field.
UWA, which was voted
seventh in the Gulf South Conference’s Pre-Season
Coaches’ Poll, looks to build on last season’s success
that saw the Tigers secure their first winning season in
14 years.
“It was a good first
day of work. I think we showed a lot of spirit out
there,” UWA Head Coach Bobby Wallace said, entering his
second season at the helm.
The Tigers first
practice started around 3:00 p.m. and lasted for
approximately three hours, ending in conditioning
drills.
“We have some kids in
good condition and some kids not in good condition. We
have guys who were here or playing last year and some
who haven’t played in a couple of years,” said Wallace.
“We will work hard to get better tomorrow.”
West Alabama opens the
season on Thursday, August 30th, as the
Tigers travel to Samford. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00
p.m. Tickets are priced at $12.00 for all ages and can
be purchased through the UWA Ticket Office (205)
