INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –
The University of West
Alabama football team
moved up to sixth in the
second National
Collegiate Athletic
Association Division II
Football Regional
Ranking as announced by
the NCAA Division II
Selection Committee. UWA
(5-3, 3-2 Gulf South
Conference) was picked
ninth in the initial
Super Regional Two
Rankings last week.
GSC
member North Alabama
tops the poll followed
by Albany State and
Carson-Newman. Mars Hill
and The University of
North Carolina at
Pembroke switched spots
with MHC taking fourth
and UNCP in fifth. Fort
Valley State is seventh
with Morehouse in
eighth. Arkansas Tech is
ranked 10th
with Wingate rounding
out the poll in 10th.
Earned access to the
playoffs can be gained
by a conference if a
conference
representative finishes
in the top eight of the
final super regional
rankings. If you would

The
Tigers are fresh off a
33-0 victory over the
University of Arkansas
at Monticello this past
weekend. The shutout was
the first over a GSC
opponent since UWA
blanked Delta State 10-0
in 1979. The last
shutout for the Tigers
came in 2006, a 65-0 win
over Concordia College
of Selma.
West Alabama returns to
action on Saturday, Oct.
24 as UWA travels to
Carrollton, Ga. to face
West Georgia in GSC
play. Kickoff is slated
for 1:00 p.m. The game
will be aired on FOX
