LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama cross country team will compete in the 2008 Gulf South Conference Championship on Friday, Oct. 24, in Hoover, Ala.  The championship will take place at Veteran’s Park.

All 15 GSC squads will congregate in Hoover, with the women’s 5k getting underway at 9 a.m. CST.  The men’s 8k will start 30 minutes after the women’s event is completed.

UWA has been prepping for the GSC event since its last time on the course at the Auburn Invitational on Oct. 4.  The Tigers placed sixth while the women finished ninth in the event.

Harding University looks to capture its fourth-straight GSC crown on the men’s side while the HU women have won seven of the last eight conference titles.  Alabama in Huntsville halted the Bisons streak in 2007 on the women’s side.  The red and White men claimed fifth place a year ago.
