HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of
West Alabama men’s cross country team
claimed top honors at the season-opening
Southern Miss Invitational on Friday. UWA
also took the top-two individual spots in
the individual standings. Junior Jonathan
Sellers edged teammate Austin Enriquez to
garner the top spot. The Tiger women turned
in a third-place finish.
Sellers
edged Enriquez with a mark of 21 minutes,
40.70 seconds. Enriquez posted a time of
21:41.08 in the men’s four mile. Senior
Spencer Gray finished sixth with a time of
22:40.23. Daniel LoVette placed 11th
after crossing the line at the 23:02.07
mark. Deivid Delgado claimed the 16th
spot while newcomer Taylor Stinson finished
21st in his first collegiate
meet.
On the
women’s side, Carolyn Mancuso led the Red
and White with a sixth-place finish after
posting a time of 19:05.33 in the 5K.
Jessica Gonzales (20:15.57) and Kelli
Hartley (20:43.68) finished 13th
and 14th respectively. Freshman
Hannah Gray had a mark of 21:33.45 to card a
top-20 placement in her first collegiate
event.
Host-Southern Miss took first place followed
by Nicholls State University on the women’s
side.

returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 19,
competing in the Mississippi State
University Invitational in Starkville, Miss.
