LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team returns to action on
Monday February 25, as the Tigers (11-14, 6-4
Gulf South Conference) tangle with West Florida
in a GSC East action. Tip-off is set for 5:30
p.m. The game will be carried on Y-104.9-FM and
will be available on live stats at
athletics.uwa.edu.
UWA, which has
clinched a spot in the GSC Women’s Basketball
Tournament, enters the contest looking to
rebound from a 68-54 setback to #14 Valdosta
State on Saturday afternoon at Pruitt Hall.
Jessica Thompson led the Tigers in scoring,
totaling 13 points. The Valhermoso Springs,
Ala.-product is second on the team in scoring
with 12.9 points a contest. The Tigers are led
by Lexington, Miss.-native, Ashton Washington,
who is averaging 13 points and 8.6 rebounds a
game.
West Florida
(9-16, 2-8 GSC) enters the contest on a
two-game, losing streak, after suffering a 70-61
setback at Montevallo on Saturday night.
Dominique Boykins, who
leads the Argos in scoring with 15.1 points an
outing, scored 20 points for UWF in the loss to
Montevallo.
West Alabama returns to
action on Saturday, March 1, as the Tigers close
out the regular season on Senior Night against
Montevallo. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. The game
