LIVINGSTON, Ala. –West Alabama head
women’s basketball coach Amanda Marks
announces the signing of five
student-athletes. Jessie Clark, Erin
Courington, Sarah Caufield, Brantli Nichols
and Keiara Middleton will join UWA for the
2008-09 season.
"This is the largest
class of freshman that I have signed at West
Alabama," said Marks. "I'm very eager to see
this class take our women's basketball
program to the next level."
Clark, a
5’4, point guard, makes her way to
Livingston from Hazel Green High School,
where she averaged 18.2 points, 5.2 rebounds
and 8.9 assists per game.
Courington,
a 5’11, guard, from Locust Fork High School,
helped LFHS to the second round of the 4A
State Playoffs. Courington averaged 13.6
points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3
steals per game.
Middleton
is a Wenonah High School product. The
Birmingham, Ala.-native is a 5’8 guard that
averaged 13 points and 4 rebounds and 4
assists per game, while helping WHS to the
5A State Final Four.
Clay-Chalkville
High School products, Caufield and Nichols,
round out the signing class. Caufield, a
5’7, guard, averaged 10 points, 6.4
rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.5 steals per
game. Nichols, a 5’6, point guard, averaged
14.5 points, 5 boards, 3.9 assists and 2.4
steals per game. They helped lead CCHS to
the 6A State Runner-Up.
The signees join early fall
signees Kiara Parker from Ft. Walton Beach
High School and Melissa Little and Courtney
McDonald from Sprayberry High School.
