MOBILE,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team dropped its second
contest of the season, as the Tigers (0-2)
fell 75-53 at the University of Mobile on
Friday evening.
Valerie
Harris paced UWA with 12 points and seven
rebounds on the night. Courtney McDonald
supplied 11 points, as the only other Tiger
in double figures. The Lady Rams (6-2) were
led by Danielle Goodly with 21 points and
Gerica Johnson with 20 points. Sherri
McIntosh pulled down a game-high 14 boards
to go along with her 18 points.
UWA, which
shot just over 40-percent from the floor on
the night, hit nearly 50-percent of its
shots in the first half, but trailed at the
intermission, 30-28, on a buzzer beating
trey by Johnson. The Tigers were outscored
45-25 after the break.
The Red
and White opened the game on a 7-0 run, but
saw its lead dwindle to a 9-9 tie at the
12:27 mark. UWA again pushed the lead back
out to seven with 6:45 remaining before the
intermission, but a 13-4 UM run pulled the
Lady Rams within one before Johnson’s three
gave UM its first lead of the game.
West
Alabama returns to action on Tuesday, Nov.
25, as the Tigers host Delta State. Tip-off
at Pruitt Hall is set for 2:00 p.m. The game
