Tigers Look to Snap Streak at Harding

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood for its final non-conference game of the season as UWA (7-13) travels to Searcy, Ark. to face Gulf South Conference West Division foe Harding. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. Live stats will be available at athletics.uwa.edu.

The Tigers look to snap a three game losing streak and earn their first win on the road this season. UWA dropped its only contest last week, falling at home to in-state rival Montevallo. Valerie Harris led the Tigers with 14 points and 11 rebounds, recording her fifth career double-double. The 14 point effort was the Lake, Miss.-native’s 19th game in double digits this season and 17th straight. Joining Harris in the double digit scoring column was Omeshia Frost (Lawrenceville, Ga.) with 10 points.

Harris continues to pace the Red and White this season, averaging 16.3 points and 7.4 boards per game, which ranks fifth in the conference.

Harding (13-6) enters Monday’s affair riding a losing skid of its own, having dropped its last five contests and six of its last seven. The Lady Bisons opened the season winning their first 12 games. In its last outing, HU was outscored 108-104 at Ouachita Baptist. Stacey Owens led the way with 29 points. Owens averages 16.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to guide HU this season.

Following Monday’s non-conference action, West Alabama returns to GSC play, traveling to Huntsville, Ala. to take on UAH. Tip-off at Spragins Hall is set for 5:00 p.m.
