The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team was
picked fourth in the Gulf South
Conference East Division in the
2009 GSC Women’s Basketball
Pre-Season Coaches’ Poll. The
UWA women, who earned their
sixth berth in the GSC
Tournament last season under UWA
Head Coach Amanda Marks,
garnered 12 total points in the
poll.
Valdosta
State was tabbed as the top team
in the GSC East with 23 points
with defending GSC East Division
Champion West Georgia following
one point behind the Lady
Blazers in second. North Alabama
sits in third, just six points
ahead of UWA with West Florida
and UAH rounding out the eastern
side.
Delta
State, which was picked as the
leader of the West Division, was
chosen as the overall GSC
Champion with 11 votes. UWG
collected two votes with
Arkansas Tech getting one vote.
UWA
newcomers L. T. Greer and Dakota
Powell were among the 12 new
faces listed as top newcomers in
the East Division.
West
Alabama starts the 2009-2010
season on Wednesday, Nov. 18 as
the women start a doubleheader
against Concordia College.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30
p.m. in Pruitt Hall.
